Price Lock - What is it?

You may have seen the 'Price Lock?' option on product cards and wondered what it's function is. Read on to learn what it's function really is.

During certain times while you are interacting with a product card in CheckIn, it will reach out to the preferred supplier and update information about the product. This includes pricing info. If you have a default markup set that will cause your retail price to change. This may be the desired outcome for most of your products; however, there are certain situations where you may not want your selling price to change even when your cost does.

When you check the box for 'Price Lock?' your retail price will not change. The cost for the item will still update when communicating with the supplier via API if there is indeed a change to the cost of the item itself.

Our Apple partners should find this essential when creating products such as flat rate repair costs as you may or may not want to mark these up.

Keep an eye on your cost for anything that is price locked. When your cost changes you may end up charging too little for those products. It's not always straightforward to find products that have had their cost updated.
